Holy crap, social media can be exhausting.
One minute, someone’s telling you, “Vine’s gonna be HUGE!” (RIP Vine), the next minute, someone else is telling you to drop everything and only focus on Facebook Live Videos, and the next minute, someone is telling you that Twitter is having a resurgence of popularity (okay, okay, totally JK about that last one😂).
It can be especially frustrating if you’re a #SideHustle Entrepreneur and you’re already low on time, amiright?!?💯
And there are SO MANY voices and experts and gurus out there that all say something different.
Here’s the thing … they’re not wrong.
It IS true that different platforms can be profitable for different people.
Depending on your strengths, you may like one over the other.
A year ago, I made a bold decision and shut down ALL of my social media accounts except for one (Instagram).
I was at a point in my business and life where all of the social media platforms weren’t serving me. I was disheartened by Facebook algorithms, frustrated by Twitter bots, and distracted by Pinterest.
So I went against the notion that “you need to be on all social media platforms at all times!” rhetoric, and went with my gut.
When others told me I was making a mistake, I moved forward and hit the “disable my account” button with confidence.
And you know what happened? Nothing. I didn’t lose clients and I didn’t lose website traffic.
Surprisingly, it was what I GAINED that made this bold move all worth it.
I gained clarity. And focus. Most importantly … I gained TIME.
Instagram became my platform. The platform that I decided to focus all of my attention to.
And while I’m not advocating specifically for solely Instagram, I do want to make this message loud and clear … PICK YOUR PLATFORM.
The biggest mistake I see online biz owners making is trying to be on too many social media platforms at once.
Here’s the thing … it’s better to be great on ONE, then be average on ALL.
So here’s my question for you … what’s YOUR social media platform?
Whether it’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc, pick ONE and rock your socks off on it.
Once you’ve mastered one platform, then you can move onto the next.
No need to overwhelm yourself. Just pick one, then go from there.
Make your voice heard. The world needs to hear it.❤️️
